I gave these as gifts to clients and a few others this past Christmas. The ones I gave as gifts I decorated with paint pens in a variety of color combinations. As you can see, I have not yet decorated mine. I’m waiting for inspiration.
In the meantime, the jar has already been launched into its functional purpose – to hold brief written reminders of the blessings, answered prayers, things & people for which I am thankful and hold dear to my heart. At the end of the year, I will take them out and review them, starting a new tradition of remembrance of the goodness of God throughout the year.
I have started blessing books in the past – written journals of the blessings we encounter day-to-day. But I have had a hard time keeping them up, primarily because of the whole out-of-sight-out-of-mind thing. But this jar shall serve as a constant reminder to acknowledge the ways (big and small) that God reveals Himself in my life on a daily basis.
The brightly colored paper is festive and fun and makes me want to jot things down. I am quite sure that throughout the year the paper and pens will change, but the purpose will remain the same. I plan to share here some of the things I jot down and drop in the jar.
What would you drop into your Blessing Jar today?
